Why we're asking for your help

There are young people all over the UK who would be outstanding in this industry. Practical, hands-on learners who would thrive in a workshop — if only someone showed them the way in.

Part of the problem is visibility. Too many young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, have never considered a career in vehicle repair. Not because they wouldn't love it, but because they don't even know opportunities in the industry exist.

At the same time, the industry is facing a growing skills shortage. Apprenticeship starts are falling and the workforce is ageing. The businesses that invest in young people now are the ones that will be strongest in ten years' time.

That's why the AutoRaise Bursary exists. Every pound raised through the Pit Stop Challenge goes directly to funding apprenticeships — supporting employers who want to bring young people through the door, and giving young people the chance to discover an industry that could change their lives.

What is The Pitstop Challenge?

This November, as part of our 10 year anniversary, we're inviting businesses across the automotive repair sector to host a two-hour fundraising event — a timed wheel change challenge — and compete for the fastest pit stop in the industry.

All funds raised will go directly into the AutoRaise Bursary to fund more young people into employment.

Inspired by the teamwork and speed of motorsport, the Pit Stop Challenge puts your team to the test with a real wheel change — jacked up, removed, refitted, and torqued down — against the clock.

Teams of two to four compete in a series of timed attempts during your event. Your fastest time goes on the national AutoRaise leaderboard, where you'll be ranked against teams from bodyshops, insurers, repair networks and supply chain businesses across the UK.

The whole event is designed to take just one to two hours - but you choose how your day work's best for you and your team.

You set the date, host it in your own workplace, and we provide everything you need to make it happen.
